ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Alarm Technician Lead for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located at Eareckson Air Station in Shemya, AK.
This is a rotational position where the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Eareckson Air Station and 1 month off. While working on-site, housing is provided as a dormitory facility. All meals are served through the cafeteria.
General Description of Job: The Alarm Technician Lead installs, inspects tests, maintains, and repairs intrusion detection and fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards. This position will require the incumbent to travel to other project locations for extended periods of time.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Inspects fire alarm detection and annunciation equipment and replaces defective
components
• Repair fire alarm systems as required to eliminate all trouble signals
• Accomplish recurring scheduled inspections and or maintenance
• Respond to all reported troubles and correct system errors
• Maintain fire alarm systems per UFC 3-601-2
• Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter
• Makes needed repairs, and checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers
and recharges or replaces containers
• Assure suppression systems are free of corrosion and assure operation
• Coordinate and report all system status to station fire chief
• Maintain maintenance and inspection computerized records up to date in NFPA required
format
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair intrusion detection systems (Vindicator)
• Performs related work as assigned. Accountable For:
• Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.
• Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and
underground.
• Solid-state and conventional control circuitry,
• Using hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
• Understanding and following directions.
• Reading and working from blueprints and engineering drawings.
Lead Duties:
• Keeps supervisor apprised of mission status
• Directs and coordinates activities of the section
• Assist craft personnel in assigned tasks
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed
• Inspects and observes work to ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and
practices
• Completes mission status reports as required
• Ensures work is scheduled and accomplished within established timelines
• Ensures subordinates time records reflect accurate hours worked on appropriate job activities
• Coordinates personnel TOS requests while maintaining mission requirements
Work Conditions:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders, as well as elevated platform, and confined spaces when required to access systems. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory :
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain.
• Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Cont'd Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
• Minimum two (2) years' experience in inspection and repair of fire alarm, detection, annunciation and suppression systems.
• Honeywell Vindicator Certification or obtain within 180 days of hire.
• Obtain an interim security clearance and obtain a secret clearance
Mandatory:
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class 1B) certification for fire alarm detection and annunciation systems
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class II B) certification for water-based suppression systems
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class III B) certification for special hazards suppression systems Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
Preferred:
• Experience working in a remote location
• Confined space training
