The Foreign & Domestic Travel Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing complex travel requirements in support of senior leadership. This includes itinerary development, airlift coordination, lodging, ground transportation, security arrangements, foreign clearances, and administrative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed domestic and international travel itineraries.
- Coordinate airlift (including MILAIR), ground transportation, lodging, and security.
- Track and manage passports, visas, immunizations, and travel qualifications.
- Submit and track APACS requests and NATO orders.
- Provide real-time travel support during missions.
- Prepare DTS authorizations, vouchers, and spouse travel orders.
- Participate in synchronization meetings and brief senior leadership.
- Create After-Action Reports and quarterly travel summaries.
- Ensure proper security handling of classified and sensitive documents.
- Provide required monthly, quarterly, and transition reports.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience planning and coordinating travel for General/Flag Officers.
- Knowledge of DoD travel regulations and foreign clearance processes.
- Experience with MILAIR, lodging, transportation, and embassy coordination.
- Strong communication and briefing skills.
- Proficiency with the Defense Travel System (DTS).
- Active TS/SCI at start of employment.
Work Schedule & Environment:
- On-site at HQ USSOCOM during core hours (0900‒1500), Monday‒Friday.
- Travel required (CONUS/OCONUS).
- Surge support may occur during nights/weekends.
- Telework permitted only with approval.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of mandatory CUI, OPSEC, and annual training.
- Compliance with NIPR/SIPR laptop and device handling requirements.
- Adherence to all DoD and USSOCOM security and safeguarding protocols.
