ASRC Federal Research and Technology Solutions LLC, a division of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to work onsite at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC).

This position is part of the Project and Engineering Support Services II (PESS II) contract supporting all flight and mission projects, and all
advanced engineering capabilities needed to support the research and development (R&D) missions of the Center.

The position will be part of a team and include support and system administration of the APMS application and related servers. Support includes OS and application support engineering environments, hardware and software installation, upgrades and troubleshooting, automation of routine tasks (like patch management). This position will monitor system integrity, protection levels, and security related events, ensure that security controls as described in the security plan, are properly implemented throughout the systems life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Project Manager (PM) to set priorities and milestones, dependent on delivery of software, new equipment, and networking
• Provide on-going OS and application operating and maintenance support
• Perform daily backups
• Incorporate flaw remediation into the organizational configuration management process
• Apply application Upgrades / Patches and IT Security Updates/ Patches required by NASA to the operating system and Power Monitoring Expert (PME) 2024 application:
• Identify, report, and correct information system flaws and problems.
• Test software and firmware updates related to flaw remediation for effectiveness and potential side effects before installation.
• Install security-relevant software and firmware updates within [the timeline specified for each vulnerability rating + 2 weeks] subject to change based on additional NASA SOC or Federal guidance (e.g., Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Emergency Directive, Binding Operational Directive)]
• Participate in cybersecurity tests, contingency plan tests, audits, and other cybersecurity requirements
• Maintenance of ~125 existing OT network Meters
• Coordinate with and assist up to 30 users/stakeholders
• Manage user access for ~30 users and privileged account access for ~ 3 users
• Monitor operating system, application, database, and related services for availability
• Provide various reports as requested
• Provide screens and alarms, modify as required by users.
• Configure Splunk alert and monitor alerts for the ACITS code J servers
• Tier 2 trouble shooting for Network Access Storage (NAS) / Tape Library / backup /server for code J

Basic Qualifications/ Required Experience:

• 6-8 years of directly related work experience
• 5+ years supporting/troubleshooting Windows Desktop and Windows Server
• 4+ years troubleshooting skills and customer support skills
• Knowledge of PKI and/or encryption, Veritas backup, network attached storage, networking, virtual systems, RAIDS, PowerShell
• 2+ years with patch management and monitoring tools and methodologies
• 2+ years managing backup systems, various methodologies
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Candidate must be highly motivated, flexible, self-directed and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as working independently in a dynamic environment is required

Security Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft SQL
• Experience with multi-operating system implementation and support in both Active Directory and stand-alone environments, and PIV authentication in a heterogeneous environment
• Experience with virtual environments
• Experience leading and managing small projects such as: dual factor authentication, OS migration, EoL management
• Familiarity CIS, NIST, FISMA or other standards and benchmarking
• Understand and recommend software and hardware lifecycle for customer upgrade needs
• Experience supporting a Science, Research, Engineering, Education, or Government environment
