The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Test Automation Engineer who specializes in the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) to lead a small, mission-critical testing team. The successful candidate will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for defining, developing, and executing the automation testing strategy for our enterprise ServiceNow platform, ensuring system stability and compliance in a highly secure Federal environment.
This role requires a blend of deep technical ServiceNow expertise, leadership capability, and an active Top Secret/SCI with Poly clearance to support systems vital to national security operations.
Responsibilities:
As the Lead ATF Automation Engineer, you will:
• Lead and Mentor: Provide technical leadership, coaching, delegation, and guidance to a small team of test engineers, reviewing their work products and fostering skill development.
• Strategy and Architecture: Define and implement the comprehensive ServiceNow ATF testing strategy, including architecture for Test Suites, Test Cases, and Custom UI/Server-Side Test Steps.
• Test Case Management: Own the test lifecycle within our Test Management tool, Zephyr. This includes designing the structure for organizing and managing both manual and automated test cases, linking them to requirements, and ensuring accurate execution reporting.
• Development and Execution: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable automated test scripts using ATF and JavaScript to validate new features, custom applications, configuration changes, and system upgrades.
• Regression Management: Own and manage the entire regression test portfolio, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all system patching, hotfixes, and platform releases (e.g., bi-annual ServiceNow releases).
• Integration: Integrate ATF testing results and execution status back into Zephyr to provide a consolidated view of testing efforts. Support the integration of ATF testing into the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., leveraging tools like Jenkins or similar) to support continuous quality and DevOps practices.
• Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate closely with ServiceNow Administrators, Developers, Product Owners, and Security teams to ensure testing aligns with functional requirements, performance targets, and security protocols (e.g., RMF compliance).
• Reporting & Metrics: Establish and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics related to test coverage, execution status (leveraging data from Zephyr), and defect trends to project leadership.
• Documentation: Maintain high-quality documentation for test plans, automation standards, and execution procedures.

- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI with Poly.
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in IT, with at least 5 years focused on Quality Assurance (QA) and test automation, specifically within the ServiceNow platform.
- Current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification, Security+ Certificatio
- ATF Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) utilizing the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) for complex module testing (e.g., ITSM, HRSD, SecOps, custom applications).
- Test Management Proficiency: Proven, in-depth understanding and experience utilizing Zephyr (or a similar Test Management tool like Xray, ALM, or TestRail) to organize, execute, and report on the status of large-scale test cycles, effectively linking automated results to test cases.
- Scripting: Proficiency in JavaScript/GlideScript for creating custom test steps and troubleshooting technical issues within the ServiceNow instance.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, or providing technical direction to a QA or testing team.
D esired Qualifications:
- Certified ServiceNow Administrator (CSA) or Certified ServiceNow Application Developer (CAD).
- Automation Ecosystem: Experience integrating ATF with external testing, source control (Git), and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Government Experience: Prior experience supporting Federal, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent work experience).
- Other Testing Tools: Familiarity with other testing methodologies or tools (e.g., Selenium, REST API testing, Performance/Load Testing).
