Cloud & Platform Architect

FTS has an opportunity for a Cloud & Platform Architect in Chantilly, VA.

The Cloud & Platform Architect provides Systems Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a government program office responsible for delivering space and ground systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice in supporting technical evaluations and analysis of different Cloud-based architecture solutions to meet customer requirements in an agile environment
• Advise the government in architecting Cloud solutions, throughout the design and deployment of Cloud architectures tailored to meet stringent requirements, and continuously evaluating future Cloud technologies for potential migration
• Lead the assessment of Cloud and platform architecture and design solutions that offer the best scalable, secure, and cost-optimized solutions aligned to customer objectives and industry best practices
• Develop Cloud and platform acquisition strategies, requirements and customer acquisition documents (Requests for Information/Proposals (RFIs/RFPs), Statement of Work (SOW), etc)
• Assess proposals and participate in Source Selections providing expert advice to the customer
• Evaluate new cloud and platform technologies and develop roadmaps for migrating to future Cloud and platform Architectures
• Maintain subject matter expertise on the newest Cloud and Platform trends, best practices, and advancements

Required Skills/Qualifications

• TS/SCI with polygraph
• BS degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related degree
• 8+ years' in software engineering, cloud/platform architecting, cloud/platform engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years' experience with government acquisitions
• Experience in architecting and optimizing cloud resources, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance
• Experience with tools specific to cloud platforms, such as AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, etc., to automate the deployment and management of cloud resources
• Strong ability to articulate technical solutions, design trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with senior/executive decision makers

Desired Skills/Qualifications

• MS degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related degree
• 3+ years' experience as a Cloud or Platform Architect
• 5+ years' experience in government acquisitions
• Experience with Cloud and Platform solutions in the Intelligence Community
• Experience with cloud services across compute, storage, networking, and security
• Knowledge/Experience with key Platform capabilities (Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Containerization technologies, Continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, etc.)
• Certification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent certification
• Experience designing and scoping multi-tier cloud solutions
• Knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of Platform engineering - creating and maintaining robust, scalable, and reliable software platforms
• Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering tools
• Experience with Agile methodologies (PI planning, backlog grooming, etc.) and collaboration tools (Confluence, Jira, etc.)
