Summary:
● Build, enhance, and maintain Java-based microservices that power a modern, containerized mission system with multiple user-facing interfaces.
Qualifications & Compensation:
● 8+ years of backend or full stack software engineering experience (or 12+ years without a degree); total compensation is approximately $259,440 per year.
● Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
● Strong experience with Java, including design, debugging, and problem solving for production systems.
● Experience developing RESTful web applications and services using frameworks such as Spring Boot.
● Experience working with MongoDB or similar database technologies and implementing automated testing.
● Preferred: experience with JavaScript UI development, Python, Apache Kafka, Linux administration, and automated build/CI/CD pipelines.
Job Description:
● Develop and maintain Java microservice web applications that support a larger microservice ecosystem with several UIs.
● Work closely with the technical lead on system design decisions, architecture choices, and the product roadmap.
● Resolve challenging software engineering and design problems in a fast-moving, feature-driven development environment.
● Implement and maintain RESTful APIs, data access layers, and integrations with backend services and data stores.
● Support testing and deployment of production applications, including troubleshooting issues across environments.
● Interact frequently with the customer to clarify requirements, address issues, and propose new features or enhancements.
● Collaborate with a highly team-oriented group of engineers, contributing ideas that influence system design and mission capabilities.
