Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Full-Stack Hardware Engineer, you will lead hardware development for complex modules and small electronic systems. You will work hands-on throughout the entire hardware lifecycle—from concept development and architecture to schematic design, PCB layout, analysis, build, test, and final delivery. This role emphasizes digital and mixed-signal hardware design for space applications, including advanced SDRs, SBCs, and control/telemetry subsystems for phased-array antenna payloads.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-End Hardware Development-
Own full lifecycle design of complex electronics modules and small systems (concept → architecture → schematic → layout → test → production).
Develop hardware architecture and author hardware requirements for systems of moderate complexity.
Perform detailed schematic design for complex boards, covering both key components and supporting passives.
Execute detailed PCB layout in Altium Designer, often in collaboration with a PCB designer.

Analysis & Engineering Rigor-
Conduct board-level and enclosure-level analyses including:
Worst-case circuit analysis
Signal integrity (SI) analysis
Power integrity (PI) analysis
Guide interpretation of analysis results and ensure compliance with performance requirements.
Run SI/PI simulations using tools such as Ansys SIwave, ADS SIPro, or Mentor HyperLynx.

Bring-Up, Testing & Verification-
Develop bring-up plans and design verification plans for new hardware.
Perform hardware bring-up and verification testing of modules and small integrated systems, often working with technicians.
Release hardware modules and assemblies to production and coordinate with Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams.

Leadership & Collaboration-
Lead small teams of hardware engineers in developing new products with multiple electronic modules.
Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, test, and production groups to ensure successful delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
6+ years of experience in board-level electronics design, analysis, and test.
Proven experience designing electronics with rigorous analysis and validation methodologies.
Expertise in digital and mixed-signal electronics, including:
Signal integrity
FPGA integration on boards
ADCs/DACs
Telemetry subsystems
Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., 10+ Gbps SerDes) and SDR-related hardware.
Demonstrated experience owning the design phase of complex board-level electronics (trade studies, key component selection, detailed design).
Successful track record delivering hardware designs through production and deployment.
Expertise in PCB layout, HDI stackup design, and high-speed routing.
Expert proficiency with Altium Designer.

Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace hardware design experience (preferred, not required).
Experience with SI/PI analysis tools: Ansys SIwave, ADS SIPro, Mentor HyperLynx.
Experience with SDR architectures, phased-array systems, or high-performance embedded computing.
