Senior Systems Engineer

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
  • Primary duty is to serve as the Senior Systems Engineer for the Program Executive Office (PEO) Missiles & Space, Mid-Range Capability (MRC) Product Office, responsible for providing systems engineering and integration expertise across the development, testing, integration, and fielding of the Army's Mid-Range Missile system.
  • The Senior System Engineer leads efforts in weapon system development, modernization, and lifecycle integration to ensure technical and programmatic success.

Job Description:

The position requires coordination across government product offices, laboratories and contractors to align system performance, acquisition strategy, and mission objectives with PEO and Army priorities. Duties include:
  • Lead system design and integration activities for the MRC weapon system.
  • Review and define system integration requirements in support of mission analysis, system design, engineering verification, and system acceptance.
  • Lead MRC modernization upgrades requiring cross-functional coordination, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, and deliverable quality.
  • Evaluate integration specifications, technical data packages, software products, and contractor development plans to ensure compliance with technical and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical and management support to Product Office in planning, executing, and controlling development and engineering programs.
  • Assist with defining long-range procurement objectives, acquisition strategies, and fiscal year execution priorities.
  • Support the development and review of acquisition documentation, including Statements of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), and source selection materials.
  • Review and comment on contractor technical evaluations and independent government cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed briefings, information papers, and talking points for the Chief Engineer and senior leadership; present on behalf of the Chief Engineer as assigned.
  • Draft responses to taskers, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Congressional inquiries.
  • Support executive-level briefings and program updates, including risks, issues, accomplishments, and challenges.
  • Participate in staff calls, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and ad hoc working groups; track, assess, and close assigned actions.
  • Exercise independent judgment to plan and organize a diversified workload in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 10 years direct experience as a DoD Acquisition professional or a master's degree in an engineering discipline with 8 years direct experience as a DoD Acquisition professional.
  • Must have experience developing information papers and decision briefings.
  • Must have the ability to work in dynamic environment.
  • Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent Organizational Skills.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline, preferred.
  • Experience in Aegis, Tomahawk, and/or AFATDS systems, preferred.
  • Technical oversight support of Systems Engineering for major weapon systems development, preferred.
  • Weapon System Command and Control experience , preferred.
  • Must possess strong communications and analytical skills, be a self-starter, and detail oriented, preferred.
  • Relevant experience with similar Army or Navy product office, preferred.
  • Active TS/SCI, preferred.

Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DOD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain it.

Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel; 25% or less.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
