ASRC Federal's Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions.
We are seeking a Power BI Intern to support our government customer Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Services Administrative and Program Support Services (DHS FPS) located in Washington, DC . This role is a temporary, hybrid position.
Work location: Hybrid (onsite 2 days a week); intern can sit at Bren Mar, VA or 1201 M Street, Washington DC . Local intern candidates preferred. Relocation assistance, housing, or stipends are not provided.
Security: Must be a US Citizen to successful complete a government issued background investigation ( must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years ).
Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 1 - August 6, 2026
Hours: 32 hours per week
Summary: This internship will assist the Data Analysis team in building and maintaining DHS FPS budgetary and PSO dashboards using Power BI. This role focuses on data preparation, dashboard updates, and supporting financial/operational reporting.

Education:
- Currently enrolled in a Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related degree program from an accredited college/university.
- Must be a junior, senior or graduate student in college at the time of application submittal.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and maintain Power BI dashboards for DHS FPS budget and PSO operations.
- Perform data validation, data cleaning, and data transformation to support accurate reporting.
- Assist in building and maintaining data models, queries, and refresh processes.
- Analyze operational, financial, and invoicing data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and performance metrics.
- Support the integration of financial data (e.g., invoicing, budget inputs) into analytical workflows.
- Document data processes, dashboard updates, and technical requirements.
- Troubleshoot data issues, refresh errors, or inconsistencies in reports.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to clarify technical requirements and translate them into dashboard enhancements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, formulas, data manipulation).
- Exposure to Power BI.
- Solid data analytical skills, including ability to interpret and analyze large datasets.
- Basic understanding of budgeting or invoicing processes (or interest in learning).
- Ability to interpret unclear instructions and work independently.
Desired Qualifications:
- Coursework in data analytics, information systems, or finance.
- Familiarity with SQL or other analytical tools (helpful but not required).
