About the Role

Redhorse Corporation is seeking a highly skilledDatabase Administrator to support mission-critical systems for a federal customer. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain large-scale SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments that ensure reliability, performance, and security. This role plays a key part in sustaining the customer's data operations, improving database performance, and supporting operational readiness across enterprise systems.

Primary Responsibilities
    • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain large-scale Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases in operational environments.
    • Develop, optimize, and maintain stored procedures, database models, and data structures to support application and analytics needs.
    • Leverage third-party database tools (e.g., Red Gate) to enhance administration, versioning, and performance workflows.
    • Implement and maintain high-availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery architectures to support mission-critical operations.
    • Troubleshoot and debug issues within production Windows desktop application environments and supporting database services.
    • Conduct query performance tuning, execute bulk data loading, and streamline data processing operations.
    • Monitor database health, capacity, and performance to sustain 24/7 availability and ensure compliance with security and mission requirements.


Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments.
    • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Performance tuning and optimization
    • Query debugging and issue resolution
    • Stored procedures, indexing strategies, and data modeling
    • Bulk-loading techniques and data movement
    • Familiarity with Red Gate or similar database administration tools.
    • Experience implementing disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutions.
    • Active Top Secret clearance required.
    • Ability to provide on-call support for mission-critical database systems.


Preferred Qualifications
    • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or PostgreSQL Professional Certification.
    • Experience managing cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
    • Familiarity with federal security standards, including FISMA and NIST frameworks.
