Position Overview
The Master Technical Support Operations (MTSO) Instructor - SOF Tactical Cyber Operator (SCO) is responsible for delivering advanced instruction across the full spectrum of the SOF Tactical Cyber - Technical Surveillance Course Program of Instruction (POI). This includes SOF Cyber Basics, Publicly Available Information (PAI), 802.11/Bluetooth surveillance, Methods of Entry, Close Target Reconnaissance (CTR), Cyber Operations, Basic Electronics, and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) construction and modification.
The MTSO Instructor will stay current on emerging technologies and remain proficient in the latest Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) related to MARSOC Tactical Cyber, Technical Surveillance Operations, and MRTC SOF Level I Special Reconnaissance Course core tasks.

    • Vulnerability research
    • Researching and developing new exploitation techniques
    • Technical Surveillance & Reconnaissance
    • Digital camera operations and surveillance photography
    • Remote camera operations
    • Close Target Reconnaissance (CTR) instruction, including practical exercise scenario development
    • Surveillance instruction, including practical exercise scenario development
    • Tactical Audio and Video Systems (TAVS) instruction
    • Electronics & Fabrication
    • Basic electronics
    • Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) electronics modification
    • Fabrication instruction
    • Methods of Entry (MoE)
    • Method of Entry Levels 1, 2, and 3
    • Tracking Technologies
    • Tracking device employment, including Satellite, Iridium, RF, DF, and Globalstar systems
    • Training Development
    • Practical exercise scenario development
    • Comprehensive scenario development for realistic training environments
    • Curriculum design, refinement, and management
    • Professional Currency
    • Maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies relevant to SOF tactical cyber and technical surveillance


Required Qualifications

    • Graduate of a U.S. Assessment & Selection and Operator Qualification course.
    • Minimum 10 years of Technical Support Operations experience as either a U.S. military member or DoD civilian.
    • Minimum 6 years' experience as an instructor for a SOF-equivalent Tactical Cyber Operator (STCO) or Technical Surveillance Operations (TSO) course, with experience in all five primary phases of instruction:
    • Cyber Basics
    • Surveillance
    • Cyber Operations - Tagging, Tracking, and Locating (TTL)
    • Close Target Reconnaissance (CTR)
    • Methods of Entry (MoE)
    • Minimum 5 years' experience performing STCO/TSO scenario development for realistic military training in off-base environments.
    • Minimum 2 years' experience reviewing, editing, formatting, and validating course materials for submission in accordance with Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS) requirements.
    • Graduate of one of the following (or SOF-equivalent) courses that encompass all five primary phases of instruction (Cyber Basics, Surveillance, Cyber Operations - TTL, CTR, Methods of Entry):
    • MARSOF Tactical Cyber Course
    • MARSOF Technical Surveillance Course
    • Special Forces Brighton Course
    • SOF-equivalent Technical Surveillance / SOF Cyber course
    • Completion of Formal School Instructor Course (FSIC) or other U.S. military service equivalent instructor qualification course.
    • Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
