Summary:
The Material Handler II is responsible for supporting medical materiel operations under the ECMM contract, including receiving, storing, issuing, and preparing medical supplies, equipment, and controlled items. This position ensures accuracy in inventory management, adherence to safety protocols, and timely support to medical logistics operations.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform receipt, inspection, storage, and issue of medical materiel in compliance with DoD, Air Force, and ECMM contract requirements.
- Prepare and assemble medical kits, containers, and cargo for deployment or internal use.
- Operate materials handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors) safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in DoD MMIS/DMLSS or other inventory systems.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies under guidance of senior staff.
- Assist in the handling and management of controlled medical items in secure storage areas.
- Support shipping, receiving, and documentation processes to ensure proper tracking and accountability.
- Follow established safety procedures, QA standards, and operational policies.
- Assist in maintaining warehouse organization, cleanliness, and readiness.
- Coordinate with Medical Materiel Specialists, supervisors, and other staff to meet operational requirements.
- Report supply chain issues, discrepancies, or damage promptly to supervisors.
- Trained and certified in the use of all the Material Handling equipment throughout the manufacturing operation including forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, stand-ups, etc.
- Is a steward of all safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Have complete familiarity of all job functions in both Shipping, Receiving and Warehouse operations.
- Able to research inventory discrepancies by reviewing transaction history of material movement.
- Understands how and why the Quarantine location exists and how to use it.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Strong Customer Service skills required, very good communications skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); 6 months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Clearance: public trust with the ability to obtain secret.
