System Administrator (Nights)
Program Description:
Our client is prime on a program that provides support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The System Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, VMs, networks, and data storage solutions. They will help provide advanced technical support and guidance for system-related issues, ensuring high performance, security, and availability of IT systems, as well as coordinate and manage IT projects, including system upgrades, network improvements, and integration of new technologies, ensuring projects are delivered on time. The Administrator will implement and monitor cybersecurity measures, ensuring that all IT systems comply with industry regulations and organizational policies. The Night Shift Administrator focuses on monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the on-prem environment to ensure uninterrupted mission operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Tier II/III operational support across Windows and Linux systems.
Monitor system health and performance of virtualized infrastructure (VMware / HyperFlex).
Execute pre-planned maintenance, patches, and updates during non-peak hours.
Respond to incidents, troubleshoot system and network outages, and follow escalation procedures.
Reference documented SOPs and Confluence guides for resolution and reporting.
Collaborate with the day shift engineering team to communicate recurring issues or potential improvements.
Manage access controls, user administration, and Active Directory group permissions.
