Job Description
SALARY RANGE $170,000 - $230,000/year.
DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer II role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based on documented requirements. You may work individually or as part of a team. You will review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results. Additionally, you will resolve software problem reports and utilize software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. You will provide specific input to the software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level down to individual software components.
Required Skills
SKILLS
• Analyze user requirements to define software design and performance needs
• Debug existing software and resolve defects
• Recommend improvements to documentation and development processes
• Design and code new software or enhance existing features
• Integrate software into updated systems or environments
• Develop simple data queries for current or proposed databases
• Write or review system and software documentation
• Serve as team lead based on project development methodology
• Design or implement complex database interfaces and queries
• Develop algorithms to meet or exceed system standards
• Assist in creating and executing software test procedures
• Analyze system performance, workflows, and data to build software solutions
• Modify software for error correction, hardware updates, or performance boosts
• Use scientific analysis and modeling to predict and improve software outcomes
• Design or implement algorithms under strict timing or interface constraints; ensure quality control
• Apply recommendations to enhance documentation and development standards
• Oversee development teams to ensure process alignment and delivery
• Work with engineers to derive requirements and define performance needs
• Coordinate installations and monitor system operation for compliance
QUALIFICATIONS Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Desired Skills
Knowledge and/or experience with:
• DevOps, Automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines in Git
