Job Description
SALARY RANGE $230,000 - $290,000/year.
DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer III role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based on documented requirements. You may work individually or as part of a team. You will review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results. Additionally, you will resolve software problem reports and utilize software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. You will provide specific input to the software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level down to individual software components.
Required Skills
SKILLS
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Debug existing software and resolve defects
• Recommend improvements to documentation and development standards
• Design and code new features or modify existing software
• Integrate software into new or updated systems and environments
• Develop simple data queries for current or proposed databases
• Write or review system and software documentation
• Lead teams based on the project's software development process
• Design or implement complex data interfaces and queries
• Develop algorithms to meet or exceed performance and functional standards
• Assist in developing and executing software test procedures
• Analyze performance standards and workflows to develop solutions
• Modify software to correct errors, improve performance, or adapt to new hardware
• Use analysis and modeling to design and enhance software systems
• Implement complex algorithms within strict system constraints and perform quality control
• Apply and improve software documentation and process standards
• Oversee software teams and ensure process adherence and delivery
• Collaborate with engineers to derive requirements and define system capabilities
• Coordinate software installation and monitor systems for compliance
• Recommend technologies and methodologies for complex projects
• Serve as technical lead across multiple development teams
• Select software development processes in coordination with stakeholders
• Ensure quality control across all developed or modified software
• Delegate and monitor programming and testing tasks across teams
QUALIFICATIONS Twenty (20) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Desired Skills
