Senior Electrical Engineer – Gun & Electric Weapon Systems (Leadership Role)

Program Overview
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Gun and Electric Weapon Systems (E) Department requires senior-level engineering, technical, and programmatic support for the engagement systems within the Gun Weapon Systems Division (E30). The Contractor shall provide advanced expertise and leadership across a portfolio of programs including Gun Computer System Engineering & Management (E31), Gun Mount Electrical Design & Enabling Technologies (E32), Gun & Munition Systems Development & Integration (E33), Gun Mount Mechanical Design & Analysis (E34), Gun Computer System Software Design & Development (E35), and Gun Computational Software & Control Systems (E36).

This effort encompasses high-level System Design and Architecture, Technical Leadership, Engineering Analysis, Configuration Management oversight, Authoritative Technical Documentation, Test Strategy Development, and Program Management Support to drive mission-critical naval weapons capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as a technical leader, providing subject-matter expertise and engineering direction for the design, development, testing, integration, and lifecycle support of electrical and electronic systems for U.S. Navy electronic warfare and gun weapon systems.

Key Duties Include:
• Provide senior-level technical leadership for system engineering activities supporting complex electronic warfare and gun system architectures.
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams in the development, analysis, integration, and verification of advanced electrical subsystems and components.
• Oversee the development of engineering directives, technical standards, and processes to ensure high-quality, compliant, and mission-aligned engineering performance across the program.
• Guide the implementation of design improvements, modernization strategies, and technology insertion efforts for legacy and next-generation EW and engagement systems.
• Conduct and review high-level system design analyses, power distribution modeling, pulsed power system evaluations, and electromagnetic system performance assessments.
• Lead technical reviews, readiness assessments, and design audits across system development phases.
• Coordinate with program managers, stakeholders, and government leadership to ensure alignment of engineering activities with program requirements and mission objectives.
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and oversight to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Supervise and approve technical documentation, test plans, engineering change proposals, configuration items, and technical reports.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) with 10+ years of progressive experience in electromagnetic system design, analysis, integration, and test within U.S. Navy or Joint Directed Energy (DE) systems.
• Expertise in one or more relevant technical domains: pulsed power systems, RF systems, laser subsystems, CIED technologies, and advanced sensor/electronic subsystems.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams in the design and development of specialized electronics for complex naval systems.
• Prior experience supporting or modernizing legacy Electronic Warfare Systems is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading technical reviews, engineering efforts, and system integration activities for mission-critical DoD or Navy systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to prepare high-quality technical documents, briefings, and reports.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across large technical and programmatic organizations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sound engineering judgment; ability to operate independently and drive high-visibility engineering initiatives.
