Raytheon has an immediate opening for a temporary Senior Principal Systems Engineer. This role will support the program's deployed systems at a customer's remote site. This is a mix of heterogeneous Satellite Ground Station Systems that are used as the interface between satellite command & control; and RF/Ground Terminal (GT) equipment and servers. This position will be working with a diverse team to direct the modification of current systems and train junior engineering staff on the modification process.

This position supports technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs architectural exploration.

What You Will Do

  • Responsibilities include hardware engineering tasks related to new system design, development, installation, test and recapitalization. Daily tasks include system monitoring, product upgrade, trending, and assisting Operations and Maintenance personnel with advanced troubleshooting.
  • Perform Configuration Management (CM) tasks which are integral to all activities.
  • Train junior engineers on multiple techniques for specific system conversions.
  • Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of work area and create materials and provide briefings to customers for all activities.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date (TS/SCI with current polygraph). U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs and access compact areas where equipment is located. Safety at heights training is provided by the program and candidates must be able to pass basic tower climbing and rescue course.
  • Occasional travel is required. Possible 2-to-3-week deployments for limited international engineering tasks.
  • Perform and train others on the process of modifying existing Adobe Flash based web interfaces to new HTML 5 interfaces, utilizing custom scripts and experience.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

This is a temporary position of an undetermined length.

The hourly rate for this role is $65.86 to $132.21. The compensation range provided is a good faith estimate, representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
