Title: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:
The CFO will be a trusted executive leader within Invictus, reporting directly to the CEO, and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team. The individual will lead all financial and accounting functions, drive financial strategy, ensure robust internal controls, and support our government-contracting business model. This role requires deep competence in accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting for government contracts, FAR/DFARS compliance, and financial risk management in a GovCon setting. The CFO will partner with business leadership to scale operations, optimize profitability, interface with external auditors/regulators, and provide timely, accurate financial information to drive strategic decisions.

Position Summary:

This role requires deep competence in accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting for government contracts, FAR/DFARS compliance, and financial risk management in a GovCon setting. The CFO will partner with business leadership to scale operations, optimize profitability, interface with external auditors/regulators, and provide timely, accurate financial information to drive strategic decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full breadth of finance and accounting operations: general ledger, cost accounting, contract accounting, revenue recognition, billing/invoicing, cash flow, treasury, forecasting and budgeting
- Ensure compliance with government contracting cost principles (FAR Part 31, CAS, DFARS) and support audits (DCAA, internal, external)
- Develop and execute the financial strategy to support company growth, including financial modeling, scenario planning, capital structure, and risk management
- Lead the annual operating budget and long-range financial planning cycles; provide financial reporting to executive team and board
- Implement strong internal controls, policies, procedures and systems to support growth and integrity of financial operations
- Partner with programs, business development, capture and operations teams to support proposal development (pricing strategy, cost-volume-profit analysis), program control, and margin optimization
- Manage and mentor the finance organization: controllers, cost accountants, FP&A, program finance leads
- Build a high-performance culture aligned with the company's mission and values
- Serve as liaison to external auditors, bankers, investors, bonding agencies (if applicable) and regulatory bodies
- Provide strategic financial insight to enable business decisions: M&A, joint ventures, investing in growth, pricing strategy, scaling infrastructure
- Engage actively in leadership team-level strategic discussions and contribute to overall corporate strategy, not just finance operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master's or MBA preferred) and a minimum of 10+ years of progressive senior finance/finance leadership experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Demonstrated role as CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent at a GovCon firm is strongly preferred
- Strong depth in accounting (GAAP), financial analysis, forecasting, modeling, and cost accounting in government contracting
- Experience with contract accounting for major federal contracts (e.g., DOD, intelligence community, classified programs) and working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS
- Proven ability to lead and build high-performing finance teams, influence across the business, manage change and scaling
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, business partnering and communication skills; ability to distill complex financial information for senior leadership and board
- Proven track record of improving processes, implementing systems, driving financial discipline and supporting high-growth businesses
- Experience working in an intelligence or defense contracting environment, including classified contract compliance and audit readiness.
- Experience with growth through capture/proposals, M&A, integration of acquisitions, scaling finance operations
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environment while maintaining rigorous financial discipline and compliance
- Strong leadership presence, ethical integrity, high emotional intelligence, and cultural fit with a mission-driven, service-oriented organization
- Must be located in the National Capitol Region, with the ability to commute to the office daily
- US citizenship required
- Current TS/SCI clearance preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain one
