POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking experienced Sheet Metal Modification Mechanics to support the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) program—an advanced aircraft conversion effort transforming Boeing 747-8i platforms into secure, EMP-hardened airborne command centers for the U.S. Air Force. This role involves heavy structural modifications, fabrication, and installation of complex assemblies on large wide-body aircraft, contributing directly to one of the most mission-critical aviation efforts in modern military history.

WHY JOIN OUR PROGRAM?
• Join the team leading the development of the next-generation Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) — a vital national security platform that will replace the aging E-4B “Doomsday” aircraft. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a mission-critical U.S. Air Force program supporting nuclear command and control (NC3), strategic deterrence, and continuity of government.
• At our dedicated modification and integration facility near Dayton, OH, we are converting Boeing 747-8i aircraft into one of the most advanced, secure, and survivable airborne command centers ever built. This program includes EMP hardening, aerial refueling capability, modular open-systems integration, and fully digital design and documentation—setting a new standard for large-scale defense aviation programs.
• You’ll work alongside a team of industry-leading engineers, technicians, and defense specialists in a fast-paced environment where innovation, precision, and national purpose align. From heavy structural modifications and avionics integration to flight systems testing and mission readiness, your work will have long-term impact and contribute directly to a platform designed to operate in the most extreme global threat environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform structural modifications and heavy maintenance on wide-body aircraft (Boeing 747-8i).
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Execute riveting, drilling, layout, fitting, forming, and trimming of aircraft structural components.
• Fabricate, repair, and install sheet metal assemblies in accordance with OEM and military specifications.
• Work closely with engineers and program leads to complete precise and secure installations.
• Ensure FOD control, safety compliance, and adherence to all program quality standards.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• 3+ years of recent aircraft structural/sheet metal experience, preferably on wide-body or military aircraft.
• Proficiency with riveting, bucking, drilling, countersinking, and sealing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret LOPAs, blueprints, engineering instructions, and repair manuals.
• Must supply own basic hand tools per company-required list.
• Ability to work overtime, different shifts, and support long-term project schedules.
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment 10-year Federal Criminal Background Check, standard FAA DOT drug test, and basic health physical.
• Reliable personal transportation/vehicle required.
• Valid US Driver’s License.
• MUST have basic tools/box.
