The Raytheon Connected Factory Intelligence & Automation (CFI&A) team is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated team member to take on the role of Automation Systems Engineer in support of the Advanced Product Center (APC) in McKinney, TX and the Optics CMC in Richardson, TX.

This position will be responsible for supporting automation projects within the McKinney and Optics CMC factories. The Automation Systems Engineer will collaborate with digital technology, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, operations, supply chain, Automation Systems Engineers, and the Automation Lead to execute automation development and deployment and incorporate advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies as well as identify opportunities for process improvements via lean techniques.

What you will do:
  • Collaborate with program and factory customers to identify, develop, and define manufacturing automation and digital solutions.
  • Support early 'New Product Introduction' activities including Design for Manufacturing engagements to shape Raytheon products and automation solutions.
  • Continuous improvement, upgrades, and sustainment of deployed automation systems using core Automation skills including PLC programming, Robotics programming, Vision programming, HMI programming, SCADA development and controls upgrades.
  • Collaborate with the factory to identify, development, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership through early project phases (ideation through project definition) and continued technical guidance after transition to the project execution team.
  • Exposure and input to full I4.0 project lifecycle- from requirements generation to technical project management to execution & sustainment of automation projects.


Qualifications you MUST have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 4 years professional experience as it relates to engineering, manufacturing, operations and/or automation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a Secret security clearance
  • Experience in creating and displaying manufacturing data to operations
  • Experience with Ignition, Splunk or other Industry 4.0 tools or processes
  • Software experience (examples include the following, but not all are required): C#/.NET, LabView, C++, PowerShell, Java, Splunk, SQL Server, Python, VBA, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, Git Version Control, Arduino, Linux, JFrog Artifactory, web server management, etc.


Qualifications we Prefer:
  • Experience with process integration and electromechanical / mechatronic systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineering terms and principals
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical design, computer vision, artificial intelligence, or other related field.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A).
  • Understanding of automation programming environments including ladder logic, function block, and python
  • Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
  • Leadership skills, especially in managing dotted line relationships across multiple disciplines
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in Agile teams
  • Experience working in SAP/Aegis Factory Logix Manufacturing Execution Systems

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
