The Deputy Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations and overall management of construction projects awarded under Task Orders. This role supports the planning, organization, and execution of all phases of the construction process while also serving as a developmental position that builds leadership and project management skills through hands-on supervision, strategic planning, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading and directing day-to-day project operations for assigned project
  • Assist with planning, monitoring, and managing project cash flow, cost tracking, and financial performance.
  • Manage all aspects of construction projects awarded under Task Orders, from initial planning to final closeout
  • Develop scopes of work, project estimates, and project proposals
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, contracting, procurement, and MEP to ensure successful project execution
  • Manage project change orders and scope changes to ensure they are properly documented and approved
  • Research and compile submittals, manage project documentation to include RFIs, daily reports
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is being performed in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Participate in project meetings, including pre-construction, progress, and closeout meetings
  • Ensure project closeouta procedures are followed, including completion of punch lists, final inspections, and turnover of project documentation to the client
  • Communicate regularly with the client to provide project status updates and ensure their satisfaction with project progress
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, customers, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
  • Clearly understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with 5+ years of experience.


Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and/or construction management
  • Experience developing construction cost estimates using RS Means or similar industry-standard estimating tools
  • Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong experience in subcontractor and vendor management, including selection, coordination, and performance oversight
  • Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others
