ASRC Federal is seeking a highly skilled cleared Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support mission-critical systems, with a focus on Department of State (DoS) managed applications.
Location: Onsite (Washington, DC)
Clearance: Active Secret
Summary: This role is essential for maintaining backend data integrity and ensuring the security, availability, and performance of both on-premises and cloud-based database environments particularly Amazon RDS. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle technologies, including Oracle Wallet and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and a strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Summary: This role is essential for maintaining backend data integrity and ensuring the security, availability, and performance of both on-premises and cloud-based database environments particularly Amazon RDS. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle technologies, including Oracle Wallet and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and a strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex Oracle and cloud-based database solutions in secure, mission-critical environments
- Collaborate with cloud infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure seamless database integration with intelligence-driven applications and enterprise services
- Safeguard sensitive data, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and data integrity at scale
- Solve complex technical challenges, including advanced data modeling, performance tuning, and integration with big data platforms
- Restore and validate backend data integrity across enterprise systems
- Maintain, patch, and administer Oracle development/test databases, Oracle training databases and Oracle production databases
- Upgrade Oracle databases (on-prem and AWS RDS) and migrate them to Windows Server 2022 using RMAN backup and restore
- Migrate AWS RDS Oracle databases between AWS accounts using DBMS_DATAPUMP and Amazon S3, due to security restrictions on RDS snapshots and RMAN
- Implement and support advanced Oracle features such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Oracle Wallet, and custom database replication
- Develop and maintain SQL and PL/SQL code to support custom application development
Administer Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL databases in AWS EC2 and RDS environments - Create and maintain Windows batch and PowerShell scripts for nightly RMAN backups, monitoring and alerting, performance tuning, and Database diagnostics and reporting
- Monitor and optimize database performance to meet service level agreements (SLAs)
Manage backup and recovery operations to ensure data resilience - Lead data migration and bulk data load efforts across environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues for internal and external stakeholders
Design and implement new database solutions in collaboration with development teams
Stay current with supported Oracle Database versions and emerging technologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in database administration within enterprise or government environments
- Proficiency in Oracle Database (all supported versions), SQL, and PL/SQL
- Experience with Oracle Wallet, TDE, and secure credential management
- Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS and AWS EC2 database environments
- Strong knowledge of RMAN, DBMS_DATAPUMP, and S3 integration for database migration
- Experience developing Windows batch and PowerShell scripts for automation and monitoring
- Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and secure database design principles
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues
- Active Secret clearance and ability to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
