As a GIS Application Developer supporting the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) in Quantico, VA, you will play a central role in advancing the creation and delivery of mission-critical geospatial intelligence. Positioned at the heart of the Marine Corps Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Enterprise (MCISRE), you will contribute to high-impact programs that strengthen national defense and enhance operational readiness across the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
In this position, you will develop and maintain modern, user-focused geospatial applications and tools that make it easier for intelligence professionals to access, visualize, and share geospatial data. Your contributions will directly support MCIA’s mission to provide a secure, centralized platform for geospatial data discovery, sharing, and collaboration across multiple classified networks. You will also assist in the continued growth of MCIA’s online geospatial portal by supporting product development, metadata integration, user training, and technical troubleshooting, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of military and intelligence users. For full transparency, we are anticipating a start date in Summer or Fall 2026. This role, along with others on the contract, is ideal for candidates who are planning ahead, comfortable with the projected timeline, and fully committed to joining a mission-driven team as soon as the program begins.
Requirements:
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience
o Or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
• CompTIA Security+ certification for all tasks involving system-level access or support responsibilities.
• Solid experience in GIS application development along with hands-on work using GIS software, including ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise, Server, Image Server, ArcSDE, QGIS, and other platforms
• Strong programming, scripting, and web development skills with languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL, Java, .NET, HTML, CSS) to design, develop, and maintain modern GIS applications, support data ingestion, transformation, automation, and integration, and create web-based geospatial tools for multi-domain environments
• Proficiency in system documentation and testing, including developing test plans, validating performance, and ensuring compliance with mission, security, and system reliability requirements
• Experience developing and supporting secure geospatial dissemination tools across classified and unclassified networks, aligned with DoD and Intelligence Community standards
