Responsibilities of the Information Security Engineer:
- Analyze outputs from security scanning tools like Tenable.io to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and recommend effective remediation strategies across enterprise systems.
- Provide expert guidance on software and hardware support tools to enhance security operations and improve overall enterprise security posture.
- Conduct strategic systems planning, business analysis, and process/data modeling using manual and automated tools to support security initiatives.
- Leverage Splunk Dashboards and other data sources for continuous monitoring, correlating events to uncover threats and optimize toolset effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the ISSO to document enterprise-wide weaknesses, develop Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), and drive security improvements aligned with federal standards.
Qualifications for the Information Security Engineer:
- 10 years of experience in information security or engineering, backed by a bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Proven ability to administer and utilize cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as manage systems in Windows, CentOS, Red Hat, and Ubuntu environments.
- Hands-on experience with security tools such as Tenable.io, Nexus IQ Server, and Splunk Enterprise (v9.2+), with strong skills in vulnerability detection and remediation.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and the NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework, with preferred experience supporting Department of Homeland Security clients.
- Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; CISSP, CISM, CEH certifications preferred but not required.
- Must be a US Citizen and have or be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Compensation for the Information Security Engineer:
- Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 *depending on experience*
