Job Description

Metronome is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team supporting mission-critical government programs. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, configuration management, CI/CD, automation, AWS, Linux systems administration, Bash scripting, and Python programming - along with a solid understanding of Big Data solutions.

This position is 100% onsite at Fort Belvoir, VA, with occasional travel as required. You'll be joining a collaborative, high-performing team focused on building and maintaining secure, scalable, and automated DevOps environments.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS (particularly EKS)
  • Support edge and on-premises infrastructure for hybrid and portable systems
  • Automate deployment processes to ensure reliability and scalability
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters and cloud-based systems
  • Collaborate closely with developers to integrate applications into CI/CD workflows
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production system issues
  • Continuously improve automation, DevOps tooling, and infrastructure performance
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and modernize systems accordingly
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills

Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Government clearance required
  • U.S. citizenship required


Experience & Education:
  • 9+ years in DevOps Engineering or Software Development with a Bachelor's in a related field;
    OR 7 years with a Master's;
    OR 13 years with a High School Diploma or equivalent


Technical Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) for infrastructure design and management
  • Proficient in Linux system administration and troubleshooting
  • Experienced with Terraform and Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation
  • Skilled in container and OS deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management
  • Proficient in programming and scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Go)
  • Familiarity with Git, Flux, and related DevOps toolchains
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex system issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and standard development tool suites (JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab)
  • Must possess a DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification (e.g., Security+)
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days per week at Fort Belvoir, VA, and travel as needed
  • Willingness to assist with workspace opening/closing during regular business hours as required


Desired Skills

  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto
  • Hands-on experience with EKS, Diode, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform
  • Familiarity with secure DevSecOps practices and large-scale distributed systems
