Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: to provide preventive, remedial, and support services aimed at improving and sustaining the psychological health of National Guard (NG) military members and their families.
  • Coordinate with the National Guard community serving military and non-military agencies to promote and achieve timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish and maintain an extensive array of resources, associations, and community partnerships.
  • Conducts needs assessments, intake evaluations, and psycho-diagnostic assessments.
  • Prepares written evaluation reports with clinical impressions and recommendations.
  • Coordinates, and implements prevention and community outreach and education programs.
  • Coordinate as the key facilitator and team lead in the development and implementation of an annual, Unit-level psychological health strategic plan as described in Department of War Guidance.
  • Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health.
  • Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities.
  • Provides professional assessment, advice, education, and training to other military and non-military health care professionals, medical personnel, military commanders/senior leaders, and community agencies concerning primary and secondary prevention programs.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Must possess a current, unrestricted State License to practice clinical social work independently.
  • A Master's in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required. Substitute degrees will not be accepted.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE

Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your application package must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide expertise in behavioral health services including clinical concepts, principles and skills in the practice of Behavioral Health methodologies, such as casework, group work, community organization and consultation.

Education

This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). Please provide a copy of your license with your application.

Master's degree, or higher doctoral degree, in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

To receive credit for education, you must provide supporting documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
