Overview:
GridironIT is seeking a Data Engineer with strong experience in Greenplum, PostgreSQL, and SQL development to support mission-critical federal programs. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and maintaining large-scale data systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring the accuracy and security of data pipelines across multiple classified and unclassified environments.
This position requires hands-on technical expertise, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work in a secure federal setting with complex data workflows and integration requirements.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes supporting analytical and operational systems within Greenplum and PostgreSQL environments.
Write, optimize, and tune advanced SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to handle large-volume structured and semi-structured datasets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, software engineers) to support data modeling, integration, and analytics requirements.
Implement and enforce data security controls and access management in alignment with DoD and IC compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, RMF).
Support data migration, replication, and performance tuning in multi-node Greenplum clusters and PostgreSQL databases.
Conduct root-cause analysis and troubleshoot database and pipeline issues within mission systems.
Develop technical documentation including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and system configurations.
Support ongoing modernization and cloud migration efforts involving hybrid data architectures.
Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, or ETL Engineer within federal or DoD environments.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Greenplum data warehouse administration and SQL development.
PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
Advanced SQL scripting, stored procedures, and data manipulation techniques.
Experience with ETL frameworks (e.g., Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica, Airflow).
Familiarity with data warehousing, star/snowflake schema design, and distributed computing.
Experience working within Linux/Unix environments and using bash scripting.
Understanding of data security protocols in classified environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting for data processing and automation.
Knowledge of AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or C2E data environments.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality assurance frameworks.
Exposure to DoD, DHS, or Intelligence Community missions or data systems.
Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, PostgreSQL Certified Professional, or Security+.
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Compensation and Benefits: 150,000 175,000
