We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Technical Scribe Contractor to support the development and refinement of operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. This role involves reviewing technical documentation for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with MIL-STD standards. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a solid technical background, and experience working with military documentation.
Responsibilities
- Review and edit technical procedures for operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Ensure documentation meets standards for technical accuracy, logic, functionality, and MIL-STD-40051 compliance.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to improve documentation quality.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to clarify complex concepts.
- Maintain organized records and version control of documentation.
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of technical writing experience, preferably in a defense or military environment.
- 1-2 years working with military documentation (e.g., technical manuals, repair manuals, training materials).
- 1 year of experience with military standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD-40051).
- Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other documentation tools.
- Ability to analyze and simplify complex technical information.
- Familiarity with military terminology and documentation processes.
- Education:
- Relevant coursework in technical writing, communication, or engineering.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of technical writing experience in military or defense-related industries.
- 3+ years of experience with military documentation and standards (e.g., MIL-STD-40051, Mil-Hdbk-1222).
- Valid security clearance (e.g., Secret) is a plus.
- Certifications in technical writing (e.g., CPTC, CWNP).
- Military Occupational Specialty (MOS): 91P, 91H, 91M, or 91A.
- Continuing education in technical writing, editing, or military studies.
