AFSS requires a part-time Space Launch Manifesting Lead to support the Rocket Systems Launch Program Mission Assurance (RSLP MA) contract. The primary responsibility of this position is to directly interface with the RSLP Chief and his/her branch chiefs (engineering, acquisition and operations) to provide technical and programmatic support to help expand the RSLP business base. This position will report to the RSLP MA PM based at Kirtland AFB, NM.
Responsibilities: This part-time on-call (less than 30 hr/wk) position supporting the RSLP Chief and his/her branch chiefs RSLP MA Program Management Team with as-needed support in growing RSLP business base has the following responsibilities.
Requirements:
• Ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with stakeholders
• Participate in and ensure integrated engineering support for IV&V project activities, design reviews, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups and other RSLP MA activities.
• Knowledge of launch systems design and integration with expertise in the areas including solid and liquid rocket motors, avionics, software, guidance, structures
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with contractor and government customer counterparts
• Demonstrated high initiative, proactive, low-maintenance, self-starter required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to perform technical writing, editing, and document formatting is required
Education/Experience:
• BS degree in engineering
• Master's degree is highly desired
• 15 years or more aerospace experience required
• Experience with launch vehicle subsystems and components is highly required.
• As a reach-back knowledge position, extensive experience with the Space Systems Command (SSC) Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP) is imperative and will not be substituted.
• Active Secret Clearance is required.

- Support the identification and characterization of mission constraints, concern and issues for potential new RSLP missions
- Support the evaluation of new missions and provide acquisitions branch with recommendation for mission assurance category assignment
- Support the development of orbital and suborbital launch service contract mission requirements
- Support the analysis of and identification of GFE motor/infrastructure availability and/or refurbishment requirements
- Attend meetings, trade shows, and other events as required. Meet with prospective customers, provide support to the USSF manifest planning process, technical analysis for mission requirements, support program start-up (when applicable)
- Assist in the creation of draft requirements of emerging missions
- Assess venders and customers to identify needs prior to acquisition engagement
- Provide insights and recommendations on business approaches to meet customer needs and work within RSLP business model
- Help refine MRD requirements to help support contract execution
