A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
Support the design, configuration, and implementation of secure network infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments.
Monitor network performance and availability, responding rapidly to outages, degradations, or security incidents.
Perform network diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to maintain operational readiness.
Manage routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring proper segmentation and compliance with cybersecurity policies.
Implement and enforce network security measures in alignment with DoD and NIST frameworks.
Support integration of network systems with new hardware, software, and mission systems.
Document network configurations, topology changes, and maintenance actions for configuration control.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and program teams to ensure network performance and data integrity.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Active Top Secret Clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–8 years of experience in network administration, engineering, or support
Proficiency with Cisco routing and switching, firewall configuration, and VPN management
Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting utilities
Familiarity with DoD network security practices and RMF compliance
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, and network segmentation
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex network issues independently
Preferred Qualifications
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent)
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security appliances
Familiarity with Linux/Windows server networking, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory integration
Working knowledge of network architecture design, testing, and performance optimization
Experience supporting classified DoD networks and enclave environments
