Cybersecurity Engineer

Protect critical defense networks and systems—monitor, assess, and strengthen the cybersecurity posture of mission-critical environments with Caribou Thunder.

A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
Monitor networks and systems for security breaches, threats, and anomalies.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and compliance checks using tools such as ACAS.
Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and controls to maintain system integrity.
Manage RMF (Risk Management Framework) documentation and maintain system security accreditation packages in eMASS.
Support certification and accreditation efforts, ensuring systems remain compliant with DoD and NIST standards.
Serve as Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for assigned systems, ensuring continuous monitoring and documentation accuracy.
Respond to and analyze security incidents; coordinate corrective actions and root cause analysis.
Educate users on security best practices and promote a strong security culture across the organization.
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and program leadership to mitigate risks and strengthen security posture.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Active Top Secret clearance
3–8 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience (experience valued over formal education)
Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line administration
Experience using ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) for vulnerability scanning and reporting
Experience managing and maintaining eMASS packages and RMF documentation
Prior ISSO or Information Assurance support experience
Strong understanding of network security principles, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
Ability to communicate technical risks and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent)
Experience with DoD STIGs, POA&M management, and vulnerability remediation
Familiarity with SIEM tools, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection
Experience with DISA standards and DoD cybersecurity frameworks
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux hardening procedures
Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance
