The Senior System Administrator will provide advanced enterprise-level IT support in a highly sensitive environment supporting the F-35 IPT. This role focuses on hardware/software installation, maintenance, server and workstation administration, virtualization, and overall system performance and availability. The candidate will collaborate closely with IT teams and stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and contribute to continuous improvement of IT infrastructure and processes.

Essential Job Functions:

Provide advanced support for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, workstations, and client hardware/software in Windows and Linux environments.

Administer and maintain SAN hardware, operating systems, and virtualization platforms.

Manage and support enterprise services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and network storage solutions.

Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement upgrades and patches as needed.

Develop and maintain installation and configuration documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices.

Coordinate IT activities with management, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.

Provide technical support for organizational projects including system integrations and new service rollouts.

Mentor junior and journeyman administrators, promoting knowledge sharing and team development.

Assist in designing and configuring network devices, NAS, and server hardware.

Utilize scripting tools (PowerShell or similar) to automate routine tasks and enhance system management.

Participate in research and development initiatives to improve IT infrastructure and processes.

Work onsite regularly; this position is not eligible for remote work.

Required Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship required due to customer requirements.

High school diploma/GED plus 16+ years of experience, or Associate's-level (AA/AS/Technical school) plus 10 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in an IT field with 8 years of experience.

Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server (various versions) and Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Strong knowledge of enterprise networking fundamentals.

Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).

Willingness and ability to work after hours/weekends as needed.

Desired Skills:

Experience with enterprise service tools such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policy management.

Familiarity with database administration (MSSQL 2014+).

Knowledge of Agile or Kanban project methodologies.

Prior experience supporting mission-critical IT environments.

Ability to develop and document IT policies and procedures.
