As a member of our team, you'll contribute to the development, integration, and evaluation of cyber solutions that secure the most critical US deployed capabilities, while denying adversaries. You'll be joining a hardworking team of engineers and researchers who work closely with industry, academia, and government to study, design, develop, implement, and test cyber capabilities. As a Senior Cyber Operations Engineer, you will...
  • Lead small technical teams or projects, fostering innovation among multidisciplinary groups to solve challenges vital to national security. Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance in technical areas and professional development.
  • Engage with our government sponsors to understand their operational needs and platforms. Develop and deliver technology and strategy briefs to external partners.
  • Conduct integration, test, evaluation, assessment and operationalization activities for sophisticated cyber capabilities. Analyze potential cyber vulnerabilities in systems and understand their mission impact.
  • Develop novel concepts related to cyber operations, offensive security, or RF-enabled cyber.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Possess a Bachelors or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Have 8+ years of experience working in cyber capability development, cyber operations, systems assessment, or security analysis.
  • Have experience leading tasks, mentoring team members, or running small projects.
  • Possess strong communication skills and experience presenting sophisticated technical ideas.
  • Are willing and able to travel to government and partner sites up to 25%.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI + poly level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Possess an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Have 15+ years of experience working in cyber capability development, cyber operations, systems assessment, or security analysis.
  • Bring prior experience with large-scale or mission-critical systems.
  • Are familiar with government technology acquisition processes and program-office operations.
  • Hold an active security clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
