As a member of our elite Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities team, we want you to develop solutions to meet customer/war fighter needs with quality, agility and speed. SETC brings together all aspects of the systems engineering lifecycle, which enables cross-discipline collaboration yielding robust solutions.

This position can be a Junior or Senior Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
  • (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
  • (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment

This is an onsite role

What You Will Do:
  • You will work with other engineers to perform architecture and requirements development activities that define, characterize, develop and document system capabilities in the form of architectural framework updates, system-of-system functional and performance requirements, detailed algorithm descriptions, test scenario definition, and verification approach.
  • You will work with other engineers to conduct requirements analysis and bench marking to verify algorithm designs, ensuring system-level performance aligns with operational systems.
  • Apply written and oral communication skills

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Junior or Senior standing level by the start of Summer 2026.
  • Applied engineering experience or coursework with exposure in one or more of the following domains: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware development, Systems Integration and/or Test, or similar work history.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • 3.00 cumulative GPA required
  • Active Department of Defense clearance
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture
  • Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and evaluation tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance
  • Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools
  • Experience working on LINUX OS platforms
  • Experience working with Python, C/C++, Java or DOORS
  • Experience with the software development process using Agile Methodologies and tooling, such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Modeling and Simulation experience
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance
  • Strong communication skills including effective writing, verbal, and listening skills
  • Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations
  • Experience working on a team and in a geographically distributed team environment

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
