Agile Decision Sciences is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team at NASA HQ. In this role you will be supporting NASA's Special Projects & Missions team.
Responsibilities
- Provide study services that integrate the aspects of flight systems and ground systems. The contractor shall develop mission needs, identify interface requirements, define interface engineering, and prepare mission systems and operations documentation.
- Provide technical inputs for problem-solving, analyze various reports (i.e., progress reports) and provide recommendations to the project, provide liaison and coordination services for project activities, and perform hardware design and trade-off analyses.
- Provide systems engineering support for project development, reporting progress and conformance to appropriate practices and specifications. The Contractor shall support system engineering activities required during the architecture, design, development, integration and test (I&T) and operations phases of projects.
- Perform sustaining engineering of ground and data systems. Contractor activities may include participation as a part of a mission's or project's ground system development team.
- RF communications systems engineering support to independently evaluate and assess current space and ground network capabilities, system improvements, and new services to meet future mission needs.
SPM ISE Position Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 10 years of experience. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Extensive familiarity with TDRS operations, NASA's telecommunications infrastructure, and complex system integration. Extensive familiarity with the NASA System Engineering Handbook set of practices. Experience in reviewing deliverables, supporting the system engineering life cycle set of reviews, and making trade study assessments.
- Subject Matter Expertise with satellite ground segment digital modems and high speed serial switching.
- Expert with the Space Network User Guide (SNUG). An in-depth understanding of TDRS (especially SPM customers) communication systems and interfaces. Extensive operational and technical experience with White Sands Complex (WSC), Blossom Point Remote Station (BPRS) and Guam Remote Station (GRS) mission-critical infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of TDRS (especially SPM customer) communication systems and interfaces. Proficiency with RF Interface Control Documents (RFICD).
- Understanding of TDRS Local Operating Procedures (LOP).
- Extensive experience writing and executing documentation including RFIs, architecture documentation, detailed technical specifications, study documents, and test documentation.
- Extensive hands-on experience leading complex, long term modem and system integration projects, leading troubleshooting and resolution of ground segment issues related to TDRS and satellite communication system ground operations.
- An active TS SCI clearance with polygraph.
