Waypoint's client is seeking a Junior Missile Defense System Assessment Engineer to support verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) activities associated with Missile Defense System (MDS) modeling and simulation (M&S) of threats, cruise missiles, radars, IR sensors, interceptors, and communications using data analysis tools and/or code.
The ideal candidate will apply strong analytical and coding skills to evaluate complex physics-based models, collaborate with technical experts across disciplines, and ensure simulation fidelity and accuracy in support of national defense objectives.

The ideal candidate will apply strong analytical and coding skills to evaluate complex physics-based models, collaborate with technical experts across disciplines, and ensure simulation fidelity and accuracy in support of national defense objectives.
Responsibilities
- Perform VV&A analysis on physics-based Core Truth Models representing signatures, environmental states, effects, and lethality, generating reports on findings.
- Develop data analysis code to assess hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and/or digital models against requirements and determine suitability for intended MDS applications.
- Research technical documentation to identify relevant data for model VV&A, gaining expertise on the physical theory and mathematical foundations of models.
- Establish VV&A evidence by comparing modeled data to referent data for various MDS sensors, threats, and interceptors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and product integrator for assigned team efforts, preparing and presenting VV&A evidence plans, products, and reports.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science) and 3+ years of experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred), with the ability to analyze and modify existing code.
- Foundational understanding of verification and validation (V&V) processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, accreditation agents, and other stakeholders to establish V&V evidence and resolve modeling issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in collaborative technical environments.
- Understanding of radar principles and models.
- Knowledge of hypersonic and/or cruise missile behavior and performance.
- Working familiarity with Linux operating systems.
