We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering/Facilities Technician to support secure government and commercial spaceflight processing operations. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of critical facility systems supporting payload processing and launch vehicle integration activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, power generation, contamination control, and cleanroom operations in a high-security environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on critical facility systems including HVAC, power generation, UPS, fire detection, control systems, and other electrical/mechanical equipment.
Conduct troubleshooting using mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
Support cleanroom operations, contamination control procedures, and ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
Operate, test, and evaluate critical facility systems under simulated and live operational conditions.
Maintain accurate and detailed technical documentation, including logbooks, work orders, and maintenance records.
Collaborate with internal teams to support payload processing and launch preparation activities.
Provide technical interface and support during spacecraft or payload integration and processing events.
Supervise contractors and vendors as required, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Participate in on-call rotations, emergency response, and extended-hour operations when necessary.
Promote and uphold a safe, clean, and controlled work environment aligned with contamination and safety protocols.
Essential Functions
Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical facility systems with minimal downtime.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for infrastructure and operational reliability.
Adhere to all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.
Contribute to operational readiness by ensuring 24/7 availability of critical infrastructure.
Provide technical expertise and recommendations for system enhancements and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation including SOPs, electrical drawings, and P&IDs.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain critical facility infrastructure systems.
Ability to supervise vendors and contractors as needed.
Comfortable with physical activity including walking and moving around an operational job site.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and cleanroom operations.
Experience supporting spaceflight or aerospace hardware environments.
Familiarity with maintenance and operation of:
Pneumatic/compressed air systems
HVAC and cleanroom systems
Water and sewage systems
Electrical systems, power control centers, and switchgear
Digital control systems and pneumatic actuators
Chilled water systems, desiccant dryers, and diesel generators
UPS systems and compressor equipment
Overhead cranes and critical spares management
Experience with contamination control protocols, crane operations, and maintenance scheduling systems.
Ability to work independently within a cross-functional technical team and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
