The service desk is the single point of contact for USCG IPT mission/business systems. The Tier I Help Desk Service Specialist provides immediate triage and analysis for the managed systems, include VTC/teleconference systems, Remote Access applications, and Employee Workstations. Handles >70% of customer issues before escalating to another tier.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Assist with the IPT Onboarding process for NIWC/Contractor USCG IPT employees.
- Utilizes applications and business processes for recording, monitoring, and tracking incidents, requests, and problems for customers' unified collaboration or mission IT issues.
- Receives and responds to customer issues in a variety of ways including, E-mail, telephone, service ticket, and face-to-face.
- Receives issue, diagnoses, triages, creates ticket, and either walks the customer through the solution or escalates the issue for resolution.
- Receives request, creates ticket, categorizes, and provides solution within a short timeframe.
- Provides guidance and resolves >70% of customer issues during the first call (FCR).
- Process documentation for physical NIWC access.
- Provides user assistance for specific systems and applications and elevates as needed.
- Possesses knowledge in current hardware and software configurations sufficient to assist customers.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Three - five (3-5) years of prior relevant experience.
- Current DOD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record upon request.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
Preferred:
- Experience in remotely guiding end users through technical issue resolution.
- Experience with ticketing systems.
- Experience with scheduling.
- CompTIA A+ certification.
Working Conditions:
- Position may be exposed to and is expected to protect internal/external confidential/unclassified information.
- Work is generally performed indoors (sedentary).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to use standard office equipment to perform essential functions of the job (i.e., phone, computer, copier, etc.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods at a time, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear, or smell.
