The Challenge
Are you looking for an opportunity not just to develop software, but to build intelligent systems that empower DoD leadership with data-driven insights for critical decision-making? As an AI Source Developer / Machine Learning (AI) Developer, you’ll design, train, and deploy AI solutions that deliver real impact — from vision to production-ready systems.

This role is more than just coding. We need an engineer who is passionate about LLMs, RAG pipelines, and intelligent retrieval systems, and who can leverage modern AI infrastructure to build scalable solutions. You’ll use your expertise in vector databases, hybrid search pipelines, prompt/context engineering, and AI agent frameworks to shape cutting-edge capabilities. Using Agile methodologies, advanced retrieval architectures (e.g., FAISS, HNSW, ScaNN), and cloud AI platforms (e.g., AWS Bedrock), you’ll build intelligent systems that integrate seamlessly into mission environments.

You’ll analyze the needs and the environment to ensure the solutions you’re developing account for the current architecture and operational landscape, as well as future enhancements and extensibility.

Requirements
* Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
* Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, data science, or AI/ML engineering, with at least 2 years directly in AI/ML development

Core AI/ML Competencies:
* Expertise with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and embedding models
* Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Quadrant, Chroma) and indexing & similarity search (e.g., FAISS, HNSW, ScaNN, Annoy)
* Proficiency in hybrid search methods (semantic + keyword search, e.g., BM25 + ANN) and metadata filtering / hybrid retrieval pipelines
* Ability to design and operationalize AI agent frameworks and perform prompt/context engineering

Software & Infrastructure:
* Strong programming experience in Python, Java, or C++
* Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, Scikit-learn, and related ML libraries
* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Sagemaker, Azure ML, or GCP Vertex AI
* Working knowledge of data tools such as Spark, Pandas, SQL/NoSQL databases
* Security: TS clearance required

Nice to Have
* Experience with LangChain, hybrid retrieval orchestration frameworks, or custom AI agent architectures
* Experience implementing custom authentication/authorization strategies for AI systems
* Experience creating and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
* Familiarity with containerization and MLOps practices for scaling AI systems
* Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor teammates in emerging AI/ML technologies
