Aspen Consulting Group is currently seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team and support mission-critical infrastructure in a dynamic environment. This role involves managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems that drive high-performance workloads, including GPU development, and ensuring secure, stable, and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Linux administration, automation, and system security, with a willingness to support networking hardware and infrastructure expansion. This is a cleared full-time position on-site at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer Linux/RHEL systems and for development, optimizing performance, reliability, and security in compute-intensive environments.
• Maintain PXE boot and Cobbler infrastructure for efficient system provisioning, imaging, and bare-metal deployments.
• Develop automation scripts and Ansible playbooks to streamline configuration management, software deployments, and routine administrative tasks.
• Configure and manage local storage solutions, including partitions and logical volumes, ensuring scalable and resilient storage performance.
• Manage user accounts and access controls through Identity Management (IdM), maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
• Implement and maintain system security policies, including firewall configurations, SELinux rules, and file access controls (fapolicy), to protect against vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
• Perform container management tasks in support of development and production workloads, using tools such as Podman or Docker.
• Support Allied Telesis and Arista switches, assisting in the management of network hardware to ensure reliable connectivity and performance.
• Assist with purchasing decisions for new equipment, providing technical insight and recommendations to guide future infrastructure growth.
Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly required.
• Security+ (Above baseline and computing environment certifications)
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven experience as a Linux or RHEL System Administrator, preferably in enterprise or research environments.
• Red Hat (RHCSA, RHCE) Linux Certification with minimum 5 years of UNIX platform experience.
• Strong background in automation, scripting, and Ansible.
• Ability to write Python scripts using REST/HTTP APIs with secure TLS and use of public key cryptography (certificates).
• Basic knowledge, understanding and experiencing configuring or administering to any of the following: nftables, “Iptables”, firewalld, or any other web-based firewall application.
• Some experience and knowledge on system compliance, patching, maintenance, and security.
• Hands-on knowledge of PXE boot, Cobbler, and system provisioning practices.
• Familiarity with Allied Telesis and Arista switch management a plus.
