Exercise Team Lead and Planner
Full-time, on-site in Hampton Roads
GPI performs Joint and Navy planning, provides expertise to Joint, Allied, and Fleet operational exercises and training, and provides new technical solutions such as Robotic Autonomous Systems (RAS). GPI prepares clients for the future operational environment, focusing on new technical solutions including unmanned systems, non-kinetic effects, space, and synthetic training.
The role:
The individual assigned to this role will serve as a Team Lead and Exercise Planner in support of Joint and Service exercises. The job supports the full joint exercise life cycle.
The assigned individual will:
- Serve as a joint warfare subject matter expert.
- Perform duties as an observer-trainer or other functions in support of joint and service training.
- Train more junior personnel and the training audience on the interfaces amongst service component commanders, specialized commands, combat support agencies, and combatant commanders.
- Serve on a team of planners and specialists that plan and execute joint and service exercises.
- Provide vision and expertise in the development, design, execution, and assessment.
- Assist in the development of the scenario, road to crisis, operational environment, and specific storylines that ensure training objectives are accomplished
- Develop exercise documents to include manning documents, messages, and orders to include operation orders, and exercise directives.
Required training, experience, qualifications, and skills.
- BA/BS degree
- 2 years of experience on a service or joint training team
- 8+ years of experience at Operational or Tactical Levels
- Experience on a Combatant Command staff in the J3 staff or joint operations center
- Experience at a service headquarters element, such a US Army component command, Numbered Fleet, or JFACC.
- JPME I/II
- Excellent written communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to travel
- TS//SCI clearance

- Combat Arms/Line Officer
- O-6 active-duty experience
- Intermediate and/or senior level war college experience
- MAWS/SAWS/JAWS training
