Insight Global is seeking a Linux Engineer to join a federal team in Suffolk, VA.
The Linux Engineer responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Manage, configure, and maintain servers, storage, and related IT infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
· Implement security best practices, including user access controls, data encryption, patch management, and firewall configurations.
· Develop and maintain backup solutions for critical systems and data.
· Act as a key point of contact for technical support requests, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues.
· Participate in IT deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
· Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
· Monitor, maintain, and support servers, workstations, and network devices.
· Install and configure operating systems and application software on servers and GFE.
· Provide technical support to end users for hardware, software, and networking issues.
· Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory.
· Apply software patches and perform regular system updates.
· Assist with system backups and disaster recovery testing.
· Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
· Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and upgrades.
· Escalate complex issues to senior administrators as needed.
· Maintain security and privacy of the information systems.
Required Skills & Experience
o 4-6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 2-4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent 8-10 years relevant experience.
o Hands-on experience with server administration (RedHat Linux).
o Fluent in Gitlab (merge requests, deploying pipelines, etc.)
o Familiar with containerizations - Kubernetes or Docker
o Security + certification must be obtained within 90 days
o Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
