Duties

As a YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM SPECIALIST, GS-0301-09, you will assist with the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and daily administration of the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) to include the contracting of conference facilities, lodging, meals, and professional onsite childcare; coordinate with staff and other Federal, state, and local organizations for support with speakers, instructors, and support services; create and distribute the agenda, informational brochures, and other promotional materials concerning individual YRRP events scheduled; serve as an advisor on the YRRP Program and family program issues relevant to the service members and their families during the deployment cycle, with the intent of maximizing readiness of the service members and their families; conduct briefings, seminars, and workshops about the various services, benefits, and referral organizations available to service members and their families; assist in planning, maintaining, and updating an ongoing system of information and referrals for use by the military community; prepare, coordinate, and disseminate information to staff and units to provide the service members and families with educational materials to increase awareness of the benefits and entitlements available; conduct needs assessments to identify other programming needs of family members; provide necessary assistance to units and/or individuals to ensure accomplishment of all Deployment Cycle Support tasks during appropriate phases of the deployment cycles to include coordinating reception activities, briefings, training, and spouse/family education; communicate with the service members and their families to ensure they have access to all available events, dates, locations, times, and agenda; assist with ensuring accuracy and timeliness standards for the reporting requirements within their state are met, for inclusion in the nationwide Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Report; maintain up-to-date Yellow Ribbon Program benefits, support services, and readiness library consisting of directives, policies, regulations, SOPs, and program material; serve as representative at conferences and meetings on family programs and Yellow Ribbon Program matters; and perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO WORK WEEKENDS AND TRAVEL.

  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trail period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.
Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted (E5 to E7), Warrant (WO1 to CW4) or Officer (1LT)

Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience in using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; planning and organizing work; communicating effectively orally and in writing; compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information; providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled; and developing administrative procedures.
