Job Location: Two positions - One in Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Fort Sam Houston, TX and another in MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), Tampa, FL.
The Medical Business Systems Analyst shall provide business systems analysis support within the Medical and Materiel communities of interest. This position is responsible for analyzing user needs, defining system scope and objectives, and ensuring alignment of system requirements with operational and industry standards. The analyst will serve as a top-level contributor, providing technical consultation on complex projects, and assessing the business implications of applying new or existing technology to current and future mission environments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Systems Analysis & Requirements Development
• Define system scope and objectives based on user needs and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements
• Translate business and operational needs into detailed system requirement specifications
• Modify or create business processes to resolve complex issues, considering capacity, timelines, and desired outcomes
2. Consultation & Advisory Support
• Provide expert consultation on complex medical business system initiatives
• Advise stakeholders on the short- and long-term impact of technology implementations
• Support enterprise decision-making through effective requirements analysis and solution recommendations
3. Documentation & Compliance
• Develop and maintain clear, auditable documentation aligned with DoD and industry standards
• Ensure compliance with medical data standards, federal regulations, and reporting requirements
• Document all system analyses and business process changes to support audits and reviews
4. Collaboration & Integration
• Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and functional teams to capture and implement accurate requirements
• Act as a liaison between medical subject matter experts, IT personnel, and leadership
• Facilitate integration of systems into broader medical and materiel enterprise environments
Required Skills and Experience
• Must possess an active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance
• AIS Coder Certification (or equivalent recognized medical coding credential)
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in systems or business analysis (preferably within medical or healthcare systems)
• Strong knowledge in: system requirement formulation, business/user needs analysis, translating operational requirements into system specs
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-wide systems and advising on complex IT projects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface across technical and non-technical teams
Certification Required:
• Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) Coder certification, or equivalent recognized medical coding certification
