ASRC Federal is seeking a qualified SOC Analyst to support a DoDEA client headquartered in Alexandria, VA. Onsite work is required, but some telework is possible upon government authorization.
Position Summary:
The Journeyman Information Security Analyst will support the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) cybersecurity program by assisting with the execution of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, continuous monitoring, threat detection, and information assurance activities. This role is a key contributor to DoDEA's Security Operations Center (SOC) and will help ensure real-time defense of critical IT assets across the enterprise.

This role is a key contributor to DoDEA's Security Operations Center (SOC) and will help ensure real-time defense of critical IT assets across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and reviewing RMF Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation such as System Security Plans and POA&Ms.
- Support maintenance and updates of documentation in eMASS.
- Monitor and report on security control status and compliance for assigned systems.
- Assist in implementing and documenting security controls in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
- Help develop and maintain continuous monitoring documentation and strategies.
- Support coordination and logistics for system security assessments.
- Assist with the review and tracking of cybersecurity compliance metrics and reports.
- Participate in technical discussions with system owners and engineers regarding cybersecurity requirements and issues.
- Monitor and triage real-time alerts from SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, cloud security tools, and firewalls.
- Analyze logs and system/network traffic for suspicious activity and potential threats.
- Escalate and support incident response actions for validated cyber events.
- Conduct endpoint and network-based digital forensic analysis in support of insider threat and cyber defense investigations.
- Contribute to event correlation, rule tuning, and development of detection content (IOCs, signatures, correlation rules).
- Recommend improvements to threat detection strategies, security tool configurations, and monitoring policies.
- Support the Cyber Defense team with development of threat dashboards and situational awareness reports.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active SECRET security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree required plus minimum 2 to 4 years' experience.
- Tier 3 background investigation clearance (NACLC).
- Minimum IAT Level II certification (in accordance with DoDD 8140.01).
- Basic knowledge of RMF and cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with DoD systems and cybersecurity tools such as eMASS and DISA STIGs is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
