The Personal Computer Support Technician provides support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for stand-alone PCs, PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals. Support responsibilities include software installation, and configurations. This technician performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. Job duties require the technician to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs. In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing all company-owned electronic equipment and IT infrastructure. This includes computers, laptops, key control systems, biometric hardware, security radios, and networking components. The position requires technical expertise and operational awareness to ensure continuous IT support and compliance with federal IT security and privacy regulations. The IT Administrator serves as a liaison to ICE IT and travels to other facilities as needed to support operations and new startups.
  • Maintain all company-issued electronics including desktops, laptops, printers, and IT accessories.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan for IT systems.
  • Provide on-call technical support and emergency response as needed.
  • Travel as needed to support IT setup, training, and startup operations.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and biometric setup of Key Watcher systems.
  • Perform regular Key Watcher preventive maintenance and coordinate with manufacturer support
  • Perform preventive maintenance on security radios, including hardware and programming updates.
  • Run and organize company owned IT cabling and networking throughout the facility.
  • Conduct VAV booth inspections and minor electronic diagnostics or repairs.
  • Ensure all company systems and software is current and compliant with IT security requirements
  • Procure, configure, and deploy IT equipment for approved employees.
  • Provide IT support and preventive maintenance for Secure Track and Top Shelf Program.
  • Track all government-furnished IT equipment within the facility hardwire infrastructure
  • Communicate and coordinate with ICE IT regarding ICE system issues.
  • Educate AIP staff on the confidentiality of PII and federal privacy requirements.
  • May be required to travel as needed.
  • May be assigned additional duties by the Facility Director or Assistant Facility Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems including Windows OS, networking, and peripheral devices.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and hardware/software diagnostics.
  • Familiar with Key Watcher systems and biometric registration.
  • Working knowledge of radio communications hardware and firmware.
  • Skilled in running network and communication cable.
  • Ability to interpret and follow federal IT privacy, security, and operational protocols.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment and respond to urgent IT issues.
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot IT systems with minimal supervision.
  • Take responsibility for IT performance and asset management.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional IT support experience.
  • Experience with secure systems such as biometric access, key control, and VAV electronics preferred.

Required Qualifications:
  • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for at least the last five years.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record).
  • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Maintain current/physical residence in the continental United States.
