The Aegis Ashore External Communication Specialist is the Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Aegis Ashore satellite and associated communication systems. Supporting the US Navy's Aegis Ashore site in Deveselu, Romania providing corrective and preventative maintenance, repair, alignments and assessments, monitor and analysis of EXCOMM system conditions and assist their military counterparts in maintenance and training engineering requirements. Will provide SME expertise in troubleshooting system issues and implementing upgrades as needed. Will play a supporting role in achieving the U.S. Navy's goals by providing expertise assisting to resolve CASREPs and during CMAV's and SRAs. This position plays a critical role in NATO's integrated missile defense architecture conducting operations to counter evolving ballistic missile threats.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Ability to perform the following, w orks mostly independently to:
Coordinates and maintains satellite resources and message traffic.
Coordinates with the external stakeholders for reach back technical support to resolve communication systems issues as required.
Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots various radio systems, in support of operational/test connectivity for tactical communications systems.
Coordinates equipment operations to include radio system problem isolation/detection and resolution efforts, antenna alignment, timing, and cryptographic key loading of respective equipment.
Ensures operational readiness (initialization, configuration, mode selection) of external communications systems to support scheduled test events.
Maintains accurate repository of external communications documentation in support of data link architectures and test events.
Provides operations analysis feedback and troubleshooting expertise in support of test events, including remote support for off-site participants.
Assesses and analyzes the Radio Frequency communications and TDL architecture performance to support the potential corrective actions or resolutions required, and to provide information regarding new equipment acquisition.
Clearly defines, describes, and lists steps and processes required to identify problems and determine corrective actions for external communications interfaces.
Repair Fiber optic and video/display operations/maintenance, as needed.
Qualifies and provides support as a CMS custodian, as needed.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum of six (6) years' experience and deep understanding of:
Troubleshooting of communications systems architectures and hardware/software configurations
Compiling and analyzing information regarding the installation, testing, and training of advanced external communications systems
Cable fabrication, hardware installation, and repair of external communications systems
Advanced knowledge and experience with Communication Systems and associated interfaces, computer control, in-line and/or embedded encryption equipment, and bulk (aggregate) encryption devices
Briefing to high-level government personnel
External communications systems for Satellite tactical data systems, and associated interfaces, and computer control equipment.
Maintaining and operating radio systems for satellite communications, for voice and satellite TDL data.
Multi-meters, oscilloscopes, Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT), Spectrum Analyzer, Cable & Fiber testers, and associated communication systems test equipment.
Cable fabrication, hardware installation, and repair for external communications systems.
Schematics and wire diagrams

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

PAY RANGE
$90,000.00 to $110,000.00 annual base salary, DOE + Overseas Allowances

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).
