ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Electronics Technician Lead to support our Air Force customer under the ISS2 contract at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located on Shemya Island in Alaska's Aleutian chain.
This is a rotational position: employees work 3 months on-site followed by 1 month off unpaid. While on-site, housing and meals are provided, and transportation is furnished from Anchorage to EAS via government-sponsored aircraft (employees are responsible for their own travel to Anchorage).
Summary/General Description of Job:
The Electronics Incumbent Technician II lead oversees day to day operation of the electronics section. Incumbent is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance at the operator, organizational, and intermediate levels on VHF and UHF radio, radio and television broadcast equipment and associated devices including antennas, cables, transmission lines, connectors, and power supplies. The incumbent performs routine and corrective maintenance on navigational (NAVAIDS) systems.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm, diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surface. Occasional lifting, handling, or moving of objects without assistance weighing up to 35 pounds may be required. Work hours are subject to change, with weekend and/or holiday work as needed.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, modification, or removal of all ground navigation (NAVAIDS) and meteorological electronic systems and their related sub-systems using applicable test equipment.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, modification, or removal of all inside and outside plant telephone copper and fiber optic infrastructures.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, modification, or removal of the Giant Voice speaker array system.
- Preforms preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, modification, or removal of VHF/UHF air to ground radio and antenna systems.
- Performs maintenance, installation, programming, or modification of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) assets, including repeater stations, tone remote units, base stations, vehicle, and handheld radios.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, modification, or removal of satellite television receive only dishes, receivers, descramblers, modulators, line amplifiers, related cable television distribution systems, and FM radio broadcast and antenna systems.
- Reports and documents maintenance activities to management.
- Processes incoming and outgoing parts and supply documents, equipment items, and test equipment appropriately.
- Maintains required Air Force publication and technical order files.
- Assists the FAA in the performance of periodic flight inspections of ground navigation facilities.
- Assists with the repair and maintenance of switch, long-haul, and IDS systems.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Lead Duties:
- Keeps supervisor apprised of mission status
- Directs and coordinates activities of the section
- Assist craft personnel in assigned tasks
- Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed
- Inspects and observes work to ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and practices
- Completes mission status reports as required
- Ensures work is scheduled and accomplished within established timelines
- Ensures subordinates time records reflect accurate hours worked on appropriate job activities
- Coordinates personnel TOS requests while maintaining mission requirements
Accountable For:
- The operation of the electronic test equipment associated with radio technology.
- The operation and maintenance of HF, VHR, and UHF radio
- The radio and television broadcast equipment and associated equipment.
- Safety standards appropriate to the position.
- Assisting with setting procedures and functions
- The Automated Surface Observation Systems (ASOS) and weather-related equipment.
- Communications Security (COMSEC).
- The use of common office machinery, including copiers, fax machines, and computers
- Working professionally with a variety of people and personalities
- Meeting deadlines and handle potentially highly stressful situations.
- Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years hands-on experience maintaining the following military systems or their FAA equivalent systems: AN/GRN-29 Solid State Instrument Landing System (SSILS), AN/FRN-43 VORTAC
- Fiber optic experience with Electronics Technician Association (ETA) certification with Fiber Optics Technician (FOT), Termination Testing Technician (TTT), FOT - Outside Plant Technician -OSP) certification, or the ability to obtain certification at own cost within one (1) year of hire.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
- Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, fingerprints, physical, and drug test.
Preferred
- Previous experience with Integrated Maintenance Dada System (IMDS) and ESR/MOC Reporting Database System.
- Prior US Air Force and/or federal government-based experience.
- Additional engineering, installation on network communication systems, or splicing, fabricating copper/fiber optic cables.
- Tower rescue training certificate.
- PBX (telephone) switch experience i.e. Meridian 1 (M1)
