Job Overview

This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, and contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. This incumbent may train and be assisted by lower-level technicians and perform one or a combination of the following.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Working with C5ISC ESD-SEB the Engineering Technician V, will provide engineering & support services to coordinate the development and validation of engineering documentation to include, but not limited to:
  • Engineering Changes (EC)/Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO).
  • Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPCs).
  • OEM Technical Publications and Manuals.
  • System Operation and Verification Tests (SOVT).
  • Weight and Moment Data.
  • Electrical Load Analysis.
  • TEMPEST reviews.
  • Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) reviews.
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)/Maintenance Requirements List (MRL).
  • Interface Design Documents (IDD) for component interfaces (I/O) / Integration.


Accountable For:
  • Keep managers and supervisors apprised of their progress, ability to work well with others, adherence to contract requirements, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Must have a High School diploma or Equivalent GED.
  • Completion of USCG or DOD technical A School.
  • 8 years of practical experience supporting USCG/DOD communication and navigation systems.
  • Must be able to read and provide edits to engineering drawings, pubs, and manuals.
  • Must comply with COMDTINST M10550 (series) for safety.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the integration of shipboard system sensors and standard networking protocols.
  • Must possess expertise in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have an active SECRET clearance.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.


Preferred:
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology.


Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.
  • On customer site as required to include ship and shore based units.

  • Ability to travel.
