Cybersecurity Engineer Incident Response III

About the Role:
3 Reasons Consulting, LLC (3RC) is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer III to join our team and support mission-critical cybersecurity operations in Charleston, SC. This role combines technical acumen with operational vigilance to protect sensitive data and systems from emerging threats. The Cybersecurity Engineer III will play a key role in isolating, investigating, informing, and implementing measures to detect and mitigate incidents across multiple systems and data sources.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Validate suspicious events or reports, determine incident status, and ensure accurate documentation in reporting systems
Assess severity of incidents and initiate appropriate response measures
Isolate, investigate, and implement safeguards to protect sensitive data
Provide network intrusion detection, monitoring, correlation analysis, and incident response
Coordinate with supported entities to ensure comprehensive incident analysis and timely reporting
Perform log correlation and analysis using tools such as Splunk to identify patterns and respond to threats
Conduct host- and network-based digital forensics across multiple operating systems
Develop and implement IDS/IPS signatures; maintain proficiency in intrusion detection solutions
Compile and maintain internal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation
Participate in program reviews, product evaluations, and certification assessments
Required Education:
Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a computer science concentration (or equivalent experience)
Required Certifications:
Certified at IAM, IAT, and IASAE Level I per DoD 8570.1M/8140 guidelines
Required Experience:
At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity policy, Assessment & Authorization (A&A), and related activities
Demonstrated leadership in cyber defense operations and risk mitigation strategies
